We have a few openings in our tenor and bass sections this Winter Season. Singers will have the opportunity to sing in our 10th Anniversary commemorative concert and to perform in our first live music video!

We have many types of singers from different musical background–the most important factors are a passion for music and the ability to musically collaborate with a group. We’ll be auditioning sopranos and altos this coming September for our fall season.

Rehearsal Information: Cántico rehearsals are held on Wednesday nights from
September through May, with a break in late December/early January. Rehearsals are from 7:15p.m.-10:00 p.m. with a 10-minute break. The group rehearses in Beaverton near 217 and Beaverton-Hillsdale Highway.

Scheduling an Audition: Auditions for new singers are held in August and January.

  • Auditions will be held in January 2018, by appointment.
  • Please read the Cántico Member Information Sheet (with rehearsal schedule, dues, performance information, etc.).
  • Please download the Cántico Audition Form, fill it out and bring it with you to the audition.
  • Email canticosingers@gmail.com to schedule your audition. Singers will be notified via email if they are invited to callbacks.

Audition Information: Please come prepared with a short selection to sing
unaccompanied that shows your choral voice at its best (e.g. hymn, aria, lied, folk song, etc.). You will be evaluated on vocal tone, intonation, tonal memory and sight-reading.
You will be asked to vocalize to demonstrate your vocal range, sight-sing a few short
passages to test your sight-reading, and sing back a few short note combinations to test
your tonal memory.

We are looking for singers with choral experience, good sight-reading skills, a good sense of pitch, precise tuning, smooth and flexible legato line, and an even/controlled vibrato (or no vibrato). That said, we have many types of singers from different musical backgrounds (who may or may not have all those things) who sing with our group– the most important factor is a passion for music, a commitment to choral excellence and the ability to musically collaborate with a group.
